Fast food and restaurants are a big part of why people are overweight, but now most people are staying home due to the fear of contacting the coronavirus from crowds.  If you need to lose weight, the corona threat could be a blessing in disguise.  So, how do you do it, how do you take advantage of the pandemic for weight loss?

First, pump yourself up.  You need to have the right mindset.  So you have to find information that will get you excited.  That information could come in a good diet book, Youtube.com videos or podcasts.  Whatever it takes, just get your mind excited about the idea.  It may also help to make a list of the positive benefits of losing weight and steps you plan to take to make that happen.

 Next, do NOT stock up on chips and beer.  I know that your favorite foods are the first thing you will miss when you are stuck at home trying not to be in contact with anyone, but if you force yourself to make good food choices once you get home, well, you’ll just have to eat them. Make sure you choose some things that taste good but are healthy such as nuts, your favorite apples, lean protein or potatoes.

 Learn to cook.  A French fry comes from a potato.  Did you know that?  You can make your own.  And they will be healthier if you do because you won’t’ be coating them with sugar, flour, and preservatives or cooking them in unhealthy oil.  Try avocado oil or coconut oil or no oil at all. You can broil potatoes, pan fry them, bake them, even deep fry them.  They are good for you and satisfying.  Sweet potatoes are good, too, this way. The starches make them very satisfying.  If you make sure you don’t overdo it, and you also get sufficient protein with your potatoes, they are pretty healthy actually.
