Vacations, business travel, family obligations whatever it is that prompts you to board a plane these days, you’re not alone on that flight into the wild blue yonder, according to the Federal Aviation Administration, 2.5 million people travel by air every day. That works out to 43,290 average daily flights in and out of the U.S. and 5,000 aircraft taking to the skies each day! Traveling by plane has become such a routine way of getting from here to there that most people pay it no more mind than just another car, bus or train trip. But, for some, it’s one of the most nerve-wracking experiences that they will have to face during their lifetime. What psychologists call Aviophobia, or fear of flight, can range from being just a nervous flier, clutching the seat armrests at the slightest hint of turbulence all the way to full-blown panic attacks requiring extreme measures such as anti-anxiety medications to get through a fight.
According to Medical News Today dot com, “It’s important to learn what triggers your particular flight-related anxiety – so that you can take steps to anticipate it”. It could be the aforementioned turbulence, or the sensation of liftoff, the noise of the engines or even the smell of the pressurized airplane cabin. They go on to recommend that you “Focus on controlling what you can” such as eliminating as much stress as possible and basically, put your mind on other things. Not always an easy task when your fears are all around you and you’re strapped into a seat at 30,000 feet! They do go on to say one more thing that as a Hypnotist, I completely agree with – “consider what other sources of anxiety your aviophobia might be linked to” (https://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/320367).
When it comes to the fears exhibited in overt ways such as the “fear of flying”, any fear is really not about the thing you are afraid “of. It is a symptom of something misconnected, misinterpreted and just mistaken for something else in the subconscious. A good 5-Path® trained Hypnotist knows how to find those subconscious misnomers and help you fix them.
What stress makes worse, hypnosis makes better, and so we absolutely find the effects and any fear-based reaction lessened greatly after hypnosis sessions are completed.
The way we do hypnosis for fears in my office is to find the subconscious thinking component of the problem and the emotions that are involved, but that has been buried, hidden, from the conscious mind. Once we uncover those two things, which are done in a hypnotic state, (while you are awake and aware), we use techniques that neutralize these negative feelings and fears so that you can fly free of fear. Clients love having the freedom to fly anywhere they want to and even enjoy the flight.
The process is fast, elegant, criteria-based and methodical and takes about 5 sessions. You can get your boarding pass to stress-free flying by booking your free 30-minute telephone consultation online here at www.familyfirsthypnosis.com
